MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Surveillance video captured a man throwing display shelves to the ground at a Miami Beach smoke shop last week, damaging about $7,000 worth of merchandise, police said.

According to an arrest report, the incident happened last Monday, March 23, and the suspect, identified as Nathaniel Sanders II, 31, of Miami Beach, was arrested on Thursday.

Police said Sanders entered the Vape and Smoke Shop at 1530 Alton Road and started throwing large display shelves to the ground that contained glass, wood and tobacco merchandise.

According to the report, Sanders went back to the smoke shop when officers were there Thursday and as the surveillance video was being shown, he spontaneously told an officer that he was the person in the video and was trying to talk to the owner about ways to pay back the damages.

Police said the owner also identified Sanders as the person in the video and said he wanted to press charges.

Sanders was arrested on a criminal mischief charge.

As of Monday morning, Sanders was no longer appearing in the online jail database.
