MIAMI — A man was rushed to a hospital early Tuesday morning following a car crash and fire in Miami, first responders confirmed.
According to Miami Fire Rescue Lt. Pete Sanchez, the single-vehicle crash occurred at about 2:53 a.m. in the area of Northwest 14th Avenue and 54th Street.
Police confirmed that the driver struck a pole.
Sanchez said the vehicle then erupted in flames.
He said the 42-year-old male driver was able to get out of the vehicle himself before firefighters extinguished the flames.
The victim, who suffered burns on more than 15% of his body, was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in serious but stable condition, Sanchez said.
The driver’s identity has not yet been released. It’s unclear what caused him to crash into the pole.
