The area near Kinloch Park Middle School, located at 4340 NW Third St., and Kinloch Park Elementary, located at 4275 NW First St., was blocked off by police as parents drove to the area to find out what was going on.

“There was a bomb threat in the middle school and we needed to go in the bathroom … and the teacher told us to be quiet and not go outside," Kinloch Elementary School student Kovi Perez said.

Some parents told Local 10 News that they arrived at the schools around 9:30 a.m., emotions running high as they waited for answers.

“We got a phone call from the school announcing that there was a threat,” parent Stephy Noda said. “When I walked out of my house I saw all the helicopters circling, so I had to run. Most of the parents you see ran from their houses.”

Local 10 News is awaiting official information from Miami-Dade Schools Police and the Miami Police Department.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies and MDSP officers were also spotted near West Miami Middle School, located at 7525 Coral Way.
