MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A man who referred to himself as the “36th president” and an “alien” was arrested after police said he was found inside a Miami Beach home during a burglary investigation, authorities said.

Jail records show Anthony Lebron Carter, 43, of Miami, was arrested Tuesday by the Miami Beach Police Department.

According to an arrest report, officers were dispatched to a report of an unoccupied burglary at a home near the 2500 block of Flamingo Place.

A construction company manager told police he entered the home to access tools when he discovered a closed door. Inside, he found Carter sleeping on the floor wearing rubber gloves and a black garment covering his face, the report states.

When confronted, Florida City police said Carter allegedly told the manager that he owned the home and “ran” it. The manager then left the property and called 911.

Police then set up a perimeter and requested a K-9 search.

While at the scene, officers said they found Carter behind the home as he attempted to flee. He was then taken into custody while wearing dark rubber gloves, according to the report.

The report states that a search of the home revealed construction tools in various areas and an unlocked window on the east side of the house, although officers said no signs of forced entry were found.

Authorities said after placing Carter in handcuffs, he made spontaneous statements claiming that he owned the property and referred to all officers as “aliens” who would be arrested in the future.

Detectives said they attempted to interview Carter, but he refused to speak and also identified himself as an “alien.”

He also declined to speak with another officer and repeated his claim that he was the “36th president,” the report states.

Police did not say whether he was in possession of any stolen items at the time of his arrest, though his gloves were impounded.

Carter was transported to MBPD headquarters for processing before being booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Jail records show he is facing one count of burglary of an unoccupied structure or conveyance.

As of Wednesday afternoon, he remained at TGK on a $7,500 bond.
