MIAMI — Inter Miami CF enters a new era this weekend, with its inaugural match at Nu Stadium set for Saturday evening.
It’s coming down to the wire with construction, as the facility remains a work-in-progress.
Nu Stadium even received a glowing approval from Inter Miami President and Co-Owner David Beckham.
He was on the pitch Thursday, checking out the real grass field and the 26,700-seat stadium for himself.
Hundreds of fans are expected to get a sneak peek on Thursday too, invited to the site to walk the stadium, explore available sections, and lock in their seat for the season.
Something else to be on the lookout for is the Leo Messi Stand.
It’s rare and unique in global sports for an athlete playing at his home stadium to have a stand named in his honor.
A lot of time and money have been invested at Miami Freedom Park for Inter Miami fans, as an estimated $1 billion through private funding and three years of construction are finally coming to fruition, but it’s still not completely finished.
The broader Miami Freedom Park project will eventually include hotel rooms, commercial and office space, and the largest public park in Miami, covering more than 58 acres.
Opening night at Nu Stadium is set for Saturday night when Inter Miami hosts Austin FC.
