According to an arrest report, Jose Guim, 45, of Miami, was arrested Wednesday on charges of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and second-degree grand theft.

Miami-Dade sheriff’s deputies said the burglary occurred just after 3 a.m. on March 14 in the 2200 block of Southwest 153rd Path.

Deputies said Guim and another man, Pedro Luis Diaz-Castro, 52, of Miami, jumped over a security gate outside the home before entering the property, opening the electrical panel and cutting off the power, causing the home’s security alarm and cameras to stop working.

According to the report, the duo then went to the rear of the home, pried open a guest bathroom door with a crowbar and then ransacked the master bedroom, stealing multiple watches, cologne, jewelry, U.S. currency, suitcases and other miscellaneous items.

The two then fled out the front door, deputies said.

According to the report, the items stolen from the home are worth a total of about $100,000.

Deputies said Diaz-Castro was located Sunday in the 9900 block of Southwest Eighth Street and provided verbal and written statements implicating himself in the burglary.

At the time of his arrest, Diaz-Castro was in possession of a gun that had been reported stolen out of Lee County, authorities confirmed.

The gun was impounded at MDSO’s Hammocks station.

Deputies said Guim was located Wednesday in the 1300 block of Northeast 205th Terrace and also provided verbal and written statements implicating himself in the burglary.

According to his arrest report, Guim told detectives that he is employed by the victim who is also his friend.

The report states that he admitted that on March 12, two days before the burglary, he and Diaz-Castro conspired to commit the burglary and he provided Diaz-Castro with the victim’s home address and informed him that the victim was going to be on a cruise with his family from March 13-March 16.

According to the report, Guim also provided his alleged accomplice with the crow bar used to pry open the rear door to the home and said the two spoke about him getting a 20% cut on whatever was gained from the burglary.

As of Thursday morning, the Cuban national, who also faces a charge of possession of crystal meth in a separate case, was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Online jail records listed his bond as “to be set.”

Diaz-Castro, meanwhile, who is also a Cuban national, was being held at the Metrowest Detention Center without bond as he is being held on a warrant for another case along and also has an immigration hold.
