POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — First responders rushed to the scene of a house fire Sunday night in Pompano Beach.

The fire was reported at a home in the 2500 block of Northeast Third Avenue.

The back of the home was apparently fully engulfed in flames.

The damage is so bad, you can barely step into Joel Elusma’s backyard.

“I’m looking for somebody to fix it,” he told Local 10 News.

Elusma said he is looking at all his options after the back of the home he lives in caught fire Sunday night.

He believes the water heater exploded.

One witness told Local 10 News that she was watching TV when she saw a red flame outside her window.

She then told her grandmother, who immediately called 911.

“I was worried about him because I didn’t know if he was in the house or not,” a neighbor named Mark said.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue officials confirmed that no one was injured in the fire.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

The American Red Cross offered to assist Elusma, who lives alone, however he has opted to sleep in his car in the driveway out of fear that someone will steal his belongings.
