PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred last month at a bar in Pembroke Park, authorities announced Monday.
According to online jail records, Angel Mario Vicens, 43, was arrested last Friday on charges of attempted murder and carrying a concealed firearm at specific locations.
Pembroke Park police said the shooting occurred March 16 at Thirsty’s Liquor Bar, located at 4426 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd.
According to police, when officers arrived, they found the victim outside the bar, suffering from several gunshot wounds.
“Indications were that the incident began with an argument inside the bar; the shooter then pulled out a gun and fired multiple times, hitting the victim, and then fled the scene,” PPPD said in a news release.
Police said the victim was transported to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Vicens was arrested Friday with assistance from the Broward Sheriff’s Office VIPER Unit, authorities said.
“During the operation, a BSO VIPER Unit detective observed a firearm in plain view inside the defendant’s vehicle,” the news release stated.
According to police, Vicens agreed to speak with detectives and confessed to his involvement in the shooting along with recovering the gun used in the incident.
As of Monday morning, Vicens was being held at the Broward County Main Jail without bond.
It’s unclear what the men were arguing about prior to the shooting.
