Sunrise PD: Robbery suspects crash car into Parkland canal

SUNRISE, Fla. — One person is in custody following a robbery in Sunrise that led to a car crash early Friday morning in Parkland, authorities said.

According to Sunrise police, officers were called to the 3800 block of North University Drive at 2:19 a.m. in reference to an armed robbery involving a gun.

“Preliminary information indicates that the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, which subsequently crashed into a canal near the intersection of Loxahatchee Road and Nob Hill Road in the City of Parkland,” a spokesperson for Sunrise PD told Local 10 News in an email.

Police confirmed one suspect was taken into custody and at least one other remains at large.

The robbery remains under investigation.

No other details were immediately released.
