The June 2025 robbery ended in a police chase and an officer shooting one of the suspects in the leg.

It happened at an unidentified business at 10893 NW 17th St. in Sweetwater.

Police said the three main suspects flew from San Francisco and armed themselves with airsoft or BB guns, went to the business and zip-tied the employees, forcing them into a bathroom.

The group then gathered up 170 different Apple products and took the key’s to the business’s van ― their would-be getaway vehicle.

After hearing police sirens, the three took off in the van. As the men were getting into the van, police opened fire and shot one of the suspects, Eric Chase, 42, of Oakland, California, in the leg.

Despite Chase’s injury, the trio led police on a chase in which they would discard objects, including a “black police-style vest” and one of the masks.

Authorities said they stopped the men after the van became immobile near the 10800 block of South River Drive in Medley.

Authorities later announced the arrests of Chase, along with Aaron Brown, 35, of Oakland, California, and Ranier Landry, 27, of Hayward, California and the three were soon charged federally.

Federal court documents revealed that a fourth suspect, 26-year-old Jiayin Nian, was also indicted in the case.

All were found guilty of various charges.
