MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — One person was hospitalized Monday morning following a fire at a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue logistics facility, first responders confirmed to Local 10 News.
The facility used to fuel Miami-Dade Fire Rescue vehicles is located at 6100 SW 87th Ave., just south of Snapper Creek.
Sky 10 was above the scene at 10:40 a.m. as there appeared to be heavy damage to a fuel pump.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials confirmed that one person was taken to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital as a trauma alert.
They said there were “three patients” in total, but did not specify whether the two others were treated at the scene for their injuries or whether there were any deaths.
Local 10’s Trent Kelly said initial reports seemed to indicate that one person was found dead at the scene, but authorities have not yet confirmed that information.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said Southwest 87th Avenue is currently closed from Southwest 56th Street (Miller Drive) to Southwest 68th Street, and Southwest 64th Street is closed from the Snapper Creek Expressway to Southwest 92nd Avenue.
Drivers are urged to use alternate routes for the time being.
No other details were immediately released.
