All detainees moved out of ‘Alligator Alcatraz’

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Officials with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security say all detainees have been moved from the “Alligator Alcatraz” detention facility in the Everglades.

A DHS spokesperson said Tuesday afternoon that it is a precautionary measure amid hurricane season.

Agency officials cite the facility’s “soft structure,” which could put detainees at risk should a storm roll through.

All the migrants have reportedly been transferred to other facilities.

It was unclear exactly where they have been relocated.
