MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — After being shut down over the weekend due to wildfires, both Krome Avenue and Florida’s Turnpike, along with other closed roads in Miami-Dade County, have reopened.
The Quarry 2 Fire, near Northwest 137th Avenue and 41st Street, has scorched over 19,000 acres, while the Well Fire, near Northwest 122nd Avenue, has burned roughly 1,400 acres.
Firefighters have been battling the blazes for nearly a week, with significant progress reported overnight.
A round of rain on Saturday night helped efforts to tamp down the flames.
Officials have advised residents to wear masks if they have respiratory issues due to the smoke.
