MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A brush fire burning near U.S. 41 in the Everglades forced a short closure of the highway in both directions and prompted the precautionary evacuation of Everglades Safari Park on Sunday, authorities said.
The fire, known as the “Bluegill Fire,” burned more than 750 acres as of Monday.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes while crews responded.
