MIAMI — Deputies arrested a 59-year-old woman after an undercover detective accused her of performing cosmetic injections without a license on Monday at her apartment in Miami, records show.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Luisa Arteaga-Villalina at 1:50 p.m. at La Piazza Navona, at 677 NE 24 St., in the Edgewater neighborhood, according to a deputy’s arrest report.
MDSO deputies with the medical crimes squad had received an anonymous complaint from the Florida Department of Health accusing Arteaga-Villalina of practicing medicine without a license.
After scheduling an appointment using social media, two undercover MDSO detectives met with Arteaga-Villalina at her apartment, who said 20 units of Botox were $300, according to the deputy’s arrest report.
Once Arteaga-Villalina was prepared to begin the procedure, an undercover detective performed a takedown signal at 1:50 p.m. on Monday, according to the deputy’s arrest report.
Miami-Dade corrections booked Arteaga-Villalina shortly after 6 p.m. on Monday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to inmate records.
Arteaga-Villalina faced a charge of practicing a health care profession without a valid license, a third-degree felony in Florida, according to court records. Her bond was $5,000.
Arteaga-Villalina, who was born in Venezuela, also had a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold, according to arrest and inmate records.
