FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Margarita Wray said her 49-year-old son was on life support on Wednesday. An attacker stabbed him nine times about six days ago at Blue Martini in Fort Lauderdale, relatives said.
As the father of an 8-year-old boy remained hospitalized on Wednesday at the Broward Health Medical Center, Wray said 80% of his brain was dead.
“May have to make a decision to pull the plug,” Wray said through tears.
Surveillance video shows Lawrence Edmonson walking to his parked car to retrieve a knife on Aug. 6 before he allegedly stabbed the man at the popular bar at 2432 East Sunrise Boulevard, according to police officers.
“I want see Justice for my son,” Wray. said. “He don’t bother nobody. He would take the last out of his pocket and give to you.”
Edmonson, 52, fled, but officers used a tag reader to track him and a grappler device to stop him, according to police.
Wray had questions for Edmonson: “Why? Why did you do that? He is my baby, my son, he was the one who was taking care of me. I don’t have that no more.”
Edmonson faced a charge of premeditated attempted murder and was at the Broward County Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale without bond, according to court and inmate records. Edmonson’s sister told a bond court judge that he is a father of four.
