AVENTURA, Fla. — Surveillance video showed a 25-year-old man displaying a semi-automatic Draco pistol with a 30-round magazine while driving in circles at a parking lot in Aventura, according to police.
Adrian S. Jenkins frightened the DICK’S Sporting Goods employees who saw him on Monday at 18499 Biscayne Boulevard, according to the Aventura police officers’ arrest report.
“The firearm was never displayed within the store,” an Aventura police officer wrote, according to the arrest report.
Jenkins was out on bond on a pending case in Miami-Dade County. Police officers arrested him on Jan. 10 at the Days Inn Hotel, at 4767 NW 36th St., in Miami Springs, records show.
Jenkins was “acting aggressively towards on scene officers, raising his voice, and yelling profanities,” a Miami Springs police officer wrote, according to the Jan. 10 arrest report.
Jenkins was driving a car that had been reported stolen in Massachusetts after a Turo car rental marketplace deal, according to the Miami Springs police officers’ report.
Jenkins faced a charge of failing to return a rental or leased car, a third-degree felony. Prosecutors filed the case on Jan. 11. His bond was $5,000. His next hearing was set for Sept. 8.
Aventura police officers arrested Jenkins shortly after 9:05 a.m. on Monday at 18499 Biscayne Boulevard, according to the police officers’ arrest report.
Miami-Dade County corrections booked Jenkins shortly before noon on Monday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to inmate records.
Miami-Dade prosecutors filed a case against Jenkins on a charge of improper exhibition of a firearm in the presence of one or more persons, according to court records.
Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Carmen R. Cabarga was set to preside over both cases.
