FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Rasputia, a 3-year-old, 56-pound bulldog, is looking for her forever home and will be one of many animals spotlighted at the VCA Walk for the Animals on Saturday, Feb. 21.
“She is Miss Personality,” said Cherie Wachter of the Broward Humane Society. “She’s good with other dogs, good with kids, potty trained, and just the sweetest personality. She gets the zoomies and loves to play, and she’s a big cuddle bug.”
Rasputia’s family could no longer keep her following a personal tragedy, Wachter said, but she has plenty of energy for short walks and plenty of affection to give.
The Walk for the Animals, Broward Humane Society’s largest fundraising event of the year, takes place at Las Olas Intracoastal Promenade Park. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., and the walk begins at 9 a.m.

“It’s a great morning,” Wachter said. “We walk along A1A with the beach to the east. There are lots of sponsors, giveaways, and thousands of people come out each year. It’s a dog-friendly event, so leave your cats at home and make sure your dog is comfortable in a big crowd.”
Wachter said the event helps support animals like Rasputia. Participants who cannot attend can donate online to support the cause.
Local 10’s animal advocate Jacey Birch will emcee the event, and all funds raised go to help animals in the shelter’s care.
Those interested in adopting Rasputia can contact the HSBC.
Viewers can also visit Wachter’s fundraising page to donate to the Walk for the Animals, with all contributions helping to support the needs of animals at the shelter.
