MIAMI — Florida International University’s football team got an unexpected boost Thursday when rapper Young Thug visited campus to share life lessons and offer advice.

The rapper, whose real name is Jeffery Williams, spent time speaking with students and team members, who were free to ask him questions about life and career.

“I think God taught me like nothing is bigger than faith and prayer,” Young Thug told the group. “I was just so faithful and had it in my mind that I wasn’t going to prison for the rest of my life. I just had real-life faith.”

He also spoke about the importance of patience, sharing lessons learned from his own experiences.

The visit ended with the rapper gathering students for a group photo, leaving participants excited and energized.

FIU’s (3-3) next game is Tuesday against Kennesaw State (4-2) at Pitbull Stadium at 7 p.m.
