MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Deputies arrested a 19-year-old man at a parking lot outside Hard Rock Stadium before the CFP Championship Game on Monday involving the University of Miami and Indiana University.
It happened around 5:05 p.m. in Yellow Lot No. 18, which is located on the south side of Northwest 199th Street between Northwest 26th Avenue and Florida’s Turnpike.
According to authorities, deputies responded to a fight in the parking lot in which people were standing on cars and a crowd was forming.
As deputies began to disperse the crowd, they said a Hialeah Gardens man later identified as Adalberto Chacon Jr. was not listening to commands, instead remaining in place and grabbing at a deputy’s bicycle.
When two additional deputies approached Chacon, he then grabbed one of their bicycles before he was “redirected to move northbound between parked vehicles,” according to an arrest form.
Despite being told by deputies to keep walking, Chacon turned around and pushed one of them in the shoulders, after which he was taken into custody without further incident, deputies said.
Chacon was arrested by deputies on a felony charge of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and a misdemeanor charge of resisting without violence.
Chacon’s arrest report identifies him as a “student,” though it doesn’t specify whether he attends UM or another institution.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Chacon remained behind bars at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond.
