Heat’s Norman Powell selected to first career NBA All-Star game

MIAMI — The NBA announced Sunday that Miami Heat guard Norman Powell has been selected to the 2026 NBA All-Star Team, marking his first career selection.

He becomes the 12th Heat player to make the All-Star game. Miami will now be represented in the NBA All-Star game in 20 of the last 22 seasons.

Powell has started 43 games for Miami, while averaging a team-leading and career-high 23.0 points per game. He also averages 3.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.16 steals and 30.7 minutes while shooting 47.2 percent from the field, 39.2 percent from three-point range and 84.4 percent from the foul line.

He leads the team in points, field goals made, three-point field goals made, free throws made, double-figure scoring games, 20-point games and 30-point games, helping Miami average 119.7 points per game, the third-highest average in the NBA.

Powell will be joined at All-Star Weekend with teammate Kel’el Ware who was named to the NBA Rising Stars event. It now marks the seventh consecutive season multiple members of the HEAT have been selected to participate during NBA All-Star Weekend.
