MIAMI — The Miami Heat announced Friday it will host it’s 26th annual Family Festival next month at Dan Paul Plaza at the Kaseya Center.
The block party-style event, which is scheduled for Sunday, March 1, benefits the Miami Heat Charitable Fund and gives fans the opportunity to meet players, coaches and their families.
Organizers say the festival will feature live entertainment, photo opportunities, meet-and-greets and access to rare auction items. Burnie, the team’s mascot, the Miami Heat dancers, and the Golden Oldies are also scheduled to appear.
They said more than 40 South Florida restaurants are expected to provide complimentary food, including Skinny Louie, Jrk!, Fatman Hot Dog, Meraki Greek Bistro, The Brownie Lady, Fireman Derek’s, Lutong Filipino Cuisine, Naked Taco, Cake Lounge and Jay’s Steakhouse, among others.
New this year is “Battle of the Bites,” a fan-judged food competition.
Participating restaurants will present signature dishes, and attendees will cast votes using a chip-based system.
Votes will be counted at the end of the festival, with the winning restaurant receiving a feature across the team’s social media platforms, tickets to a Heathome game and an in-arena recognition.
