CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Miami Hurricanes wide receivers Malachi Toney and Cooper Barkate were named to the 2026 Biletnikoff Award preseason watch list Wednesday.
The award is presented annually to the nation’s top receiver, regardless of position. Miami is one of nine programs with multiple players on this year’s watch list.
Toney, 18, is coming off a record-setting freshman season for the Hurricanes.
The Liberty City native led the nation with 109 receptions, a Miami single-season record, and set another program mark with 1,211 receiving yards. He also had 10 touchdown catches and 1,622 all-purpose yards.
Toney was named ACC Rookie of the Year and ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2025, while also earning Football Writers Association of America Offensive Freshman of the Year honors. He was a first-team All-ACC selection and received multiple All-America honors.
Barkate, 23, enters his first season at Miami after transfering with quarterback Darian Mensah from Duke. Barkate earned second-team All-ACC honors in 2025
The Newport Beach, California, native has 185 receptions for 2,848 yards and 21 touchdowns in 37 career games. He has recorded 11 career 100-yard receiving games, including a career-high 172 yards against Georgia Tech last season.
The Hurricanes open the 2026 season Sept. 4 at Stanford. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET.
