MIAMI — It was a big night of high school football, with Columbus taking on Southridge in a showdown that also drew Miami Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal.

One of Cristobal’s five-star recruits, A’Mir Sears, got things going for Columbus, taking a pass and racing it in for a touchdown to make it 7-0.

Quarterback Kai Moore then connected with Brian Wilson Jr., who finished the play for another Columbus score.

Columbus pulled away for a 45-7 win.

Over in Broward County, South Plantation battled Cypress Bay.

Cypress Bay held a 14-7 lead in the third quarter before its offensive line helped open the way for a short rushing touchdown.

Cypress Bay went on to beat South Plantation 28-21.
