Authorities said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue medics responded at approximately 11:55 a.m. to a three-story apartment building near the 1200 block of Northwest 95th Street in the county’s unincorporated area of West Little River.

Firefighters immediately entered the building to attack the flames, and the fire was upgraded to a second alarm as additional units were requested, officials said.

Crews worked to extinguish the fire while searching the building for occupants and checking for possible fire spread. An aerial ladder was also deployed to the roof to support firefighting and ventilation operations, according to MDFR.

Fire rescue officials said a responding firefighter suffered minor injuries. They said at least one firefighter and another individual were transported to a nearby hospital, while a third person refused transport.

Authorities said the fire was extinguished, and firefighters remained at the scene to monitor hot spots and ventilate the building.

They said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

MDFR officials also confirmed that the American Red Cross was requested to assist residents affected by the fire.
