Trent Kelly is an award-winning multimedia journalist who joined the Local 10 News team in June 2018.
Trent is no stranger to Florida. Born in Tampa, he attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he graduated with honors from the UF College of Journalism and Communications.
During his junior year, Trent was one of a handful of college journalists chosen from around the country to compete in the prestigious Hearst Journalism Competition, where he placed second in the nation.
Before moving to South Florida, Trent covered a wide range of issues on the other side of Alligator Alley, working as a reporter and weekend anchor for WBBH-TV in Fort Myers.
Prior to his time in southwest Florida, Trent worked as a general assignment reporter for WCJB-TV in Gainesville, where he was one of the first journalists to report on the search for missing UF student and Miami native Christian Aguilar. His reports earned him the Associated Press Award for Best General Assignment Reporter.
He also spent a summer in New York interning for CNBC Business News and later worked as a production assistant for CNBC during the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa.
Trent is a self-professed "news junkie." During his spare time, he enjoys working out, spending time with friends and family and, of course, keeping up with the news. He is a diehard Yankees fan but enjoys watching the Marlins, too!
Trent is always looking for story ideas, so don't hesitate to send him an email if you have an issue that you would like to see on the air.
