Florida Memorial University to Receive Donation from Jungle Freaks NFT Project for ITE Fintech Center Development
MIAMI,FL — In their efforts to level the playing field and provide HBCU students the opportunity to be a part of the Fintech movement, George Trosley III and the Jungle Freaks team will be granting Florida Memorial University a donation in the amount of $100,000 for the development of their ITE Fintech center. The programs produced at FMU are geared to provide their students in-depth knowledge needed to create decentralized applications, and to contribute to the development of the blockchain and fintech community overall-thus creating a solid foundation for financial literacy, wellness and resilience among Black and brown students during the early stages of the adoption of cryptocurrencies. I’d like to see other businesses join in on our vision and consider contributing.”As an NFT Project, the Jungle Freaks’ goal as a community is to continue to make these types of donations and to continue to generate awareness for such programs. In September, when the first Jungle Freaks’ roadmap was released, there was a function included for charitable donations where holders in the NFT community would vet organizations and vote to select which ones would receive funds that have been generated from art sales. “The University is grateful for the support of Jungle Freaks NFT and Mr. George Trosley, III,” says Cory Witherspoon, Vice President of University Advancement at FMU, “Jungle Freaks NFT’s commitment to this project is an investment in our students and communitythewestsidegazette.com

Lions Set New Record For Points, Edged By No. 6 Keiser University
Florida Memorial had its best showing of the season Saturday and nearly toppled No. Florida Memorial started what it hoped would be its game-winning drive with 1:14 to play at its own 16-yard line. With Williams out of the game due to an injury, the Lions’ final offensive drive had to be quarterbacked by freshman Alexander Law. Prior to leaving the game, Williams had one of his most productive days leading FMU’s offense. Young led Florida Memorial (0-6, 0-2 Mid-South Conference Sun Division) in rushing yards with 85 on a team-high 18 carries.thewestsidegazette.com

While Williams threw for 262 passing yards, the Lions only produced 16 rushing yards on 30 attempts. Williams finished 16-for-31 with a touchdown and zero interceptions but did have a fumble lost. Instead, the Bobcats went on a 7-play, 74-yard scoring drive in the final 1:30 of the half that put the Lions in a 28-16 hole. Linebacker Joshua Mimms led Florida Memorial with 7 total tackles; defensive back Jamari Goodgame finished with 6 total stops; and Darius Conley added 5 tackles. Saturday’s game, which Florida Memorial obliged St. Thomas University’s request to reschedule from its original October 16th date to accommodate the Bobcats’ scheduling issue, was a historic event as it was the first-ever football game between the neighboring schools.thewestsidegazette.com
FMU Forces Five Turnovers, but Drops Opener at Edward Waters
We talked at halftime about getting ourselves in position to pull away from [Edward Waters] and not leaving it up to one play or that they could still be in the game and unfortunately that’s what happened to us. We didn’t put ourselves in position enough offensively – scoring points – to put [Edward Waters] away. After the team’s first touchdown drive – a 10-play, 83-yard drive which Akin Liverpool punctuated with a 5-yard scoring run – a botched snap during the extra point kick left the score 6-0. It was a blocked punt that Edward Waters was able to recover in the end zone that gave the Tigers their first points of the day. Florida International University also took note, recruiting him in 2008 to oversee its human resources department as its vice president. His aptitude and drive again earned him a second role, vice provost for student access and success. As a result of my work and the success I was having in the community, Florida Memorial University asked if I would consider serving as president here, and I just fell in love with the place, he said.miamitodaynews.com
