Driver killed in single-vehicle crash in Oakland Park
OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – Authorities are investigating a single-vehicle crash that left one person dead late Wednesday night. The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. outside a Goodwill store in the area of 1097 E. Oakland Park Blvd. He said the driver was heading west on Oakland Park Boulevard when it left the roadway and struck a tree. According to Codd, bystanders rushed over to help the driver, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver left the scene and the popular local pub is now working to build back an outdoor area that was getting a lot of use during the pandemic.
Goodwill Industries offers free tax preparation
MIAMI – The 17th largest employer in South Florida is providing qualifying individuals with free tax preparation. The last day to take advantage of this free service is Saturday, March 28. Senior student volunteers from the University of Miami, who have been trained and certified by the IRS, are carrying out this service made possible through the IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. It is offered on a first-come-first-serve basis at the Goodwill South Florida headquarters, located at 2121 NW 21st St. in Miami. Goodwill South Florida expects to help an estimated 150 families this tax season.
