Honda of America sales chief Dave Gardner told reporters one of the electric SUVs will be from the Honda brand, while the other will be an Acura. As part of Honda's efforts to meet stricter emissions standards, it will reduce emissions from its internal combustion vehicles, Gardner said. Already the company has a hybrid called the Insight, as well as hybrid versions of its Accord midsize car, CR-V small SUV.
Two men shot, 1 killed, outside Miami-Dade apartment
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Two men were shot overnight in a parking lot in northwest Miami-Dade County, and one of the men has died, police say. According to Miami-Dade police, the two men were sitting in a car in the parking lot of the Palm Lake Apartments complex just off of NW 115th Street when another man approached, shot them, and then fled. The other victim was taken to Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, authorities say. Detectives had part of the parking lot blocked off as they collected evidence early Thursday morning. Investigators also went door to door to see if anyone in the complex has information.

Two drive shaft recalls cover 430,000 Honda Civic Hybrids from 2012, the 2007 through 2014 Honda Fit, the 2013 through 2015 Acura ILX and the 2013 through 2015 Honda Accord. Dealers will inspect the left and right drive shafts and replace them if needed.
Teen driver dies after being ejected from pickup truck during crash in Southwest Miami-Dade
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A 17-year-old was killed after being ejected from his vehicle during a 3-car crash that happened early Sunday morning on State Road 874. According to Florida Highway Patrol, the teen was driving a blue pickup truck when it collided with a red Hyundai sedan. The crash caused the teen to lose control of the pickup and collide into a black Honda sedan, FHP said. The truck then struck a guardrail before traveling off the road and overturning several times. The teen was thrown from the pickup during the crash.
2 pedestrians fatally struck by vehicles in Miami-Dade County
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Two pedestrians were killed in separate crashes Monday morning in Miami-Dade County. The first crash occurred around 5:20 a.m. in the area of U.S. 1 and Southwest 266th Street. The Honda struck the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Miami police confirmed an elderly man was struck by a car in the area of Southwest 29th Avenue and West Flagler Street. He too was pronounced dead at the scene.
Palmetto Expressway shooting investigation causes traffic delays
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Detectives are investigating a shooting on the Palmetto Expressway’s northbound lanes near Flagler Street in Miami-Dade County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. A Miami-Dade police officer reported witnessing how the driver of a black Honda Acura fired several shots at another driver during a road rage incident. The victim sped away from the scene. Honda, General Motors sign deal to work on vehicles together
DETROIT General Motors and Honda say they have signed a deal to explore sharing vehicle underpinnings and propulsion systems in North America. The companies say planning discussions on jointly-designed vehicles will start immediately and include vehicles powered by both electricity and internal combustion engines. Honda and GM say in a statement Thursday that they'll also cooperate on purchasing, research and connected services. In April the companies announced they would jointly develop two electric vehicles for Honda based on GM's global electric vehicle platform. The alliance would be governed by a joint committee of senior executives from both companies, the statement said.
4 injured in Dania Beach crash involving BSO patrol car, Broward County Transit bus
DANIA BEACH, Fla. – A Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy and three others were taken to a hospital Monday night after being involved in a three-vehicle collision in Dania Beach, authorities said. The crash occurred around 9:45 p.m. near the 800 block of East Dania Beach Boulevard. According to BSO spokeswoman Gerdy St. Louis, a marked BSO patrol car, a green Honda and a Broward County Transit bus were involved in the crash. Broward County Transit bus involved in Dania Beach crash. The driver of the Honda, the bus driver and a sole passenger on board the bus were also transported to the hospital.
FBI seeks to speak with people inside car spotted at gas station where missing mom was last seen
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. FBI agents are trying to find the driver and any occupants who were inside a gold Honda sedan that was seen parked near the fuel pumps of a gas station in Hollywood where a missing mother was last seen. According to the FBI, the car was parked at the RaceTrac gas station at 5800 Hollywood Blvd. Investigators believe the people inside the car may have witnessed something related to the disappearance of 21-year-old Leila Cavett. According to a criminal complaint, surveillance video from the next day shows that Ryans car was directly in front of an apartment complex in Miramar where Kamdyn was found by a Good Samaritan. 2 in custody after Uber car shot at in Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. Two men were arrested early Wednesday after an Uber vehicle was shot at in Hollywood, authorities confirmed. According to a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, the Uber driver picked up a man and a woman from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino shortly before the car was shot up in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Sheridan Street. Local 10 News had a crew at the scene as a black Honda could be seen with bullet holes in it. Hollywood police confirmed that the suspects were in a Mercedes-Benz, which they parked in front of a home off Polk Street and North 13th Avenue before running off. A motive for the shooting remains unclear.

Driver dies after crashing into road rangers truck on Turnpike
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. A driver was killed early Monday morning in a crash involving a road ranger on Floridas Turnpike, Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Alex Camacho confirmed later in the morning. According to Camacho, a white Honda sedan was heading north on the Turnpike near Kendall Drive when the driver lost control of the car and struck a road rangers truck that was parked on the right shoulder. The road ranger was outside of the truck assisting with another crash, Camacho said. Camacho said the road ranger wasnt injured. The northbound lanes of the Turnpike remained closed as of 8:20 a.m. Traffic was being diverted onto Kendall Drive.
Trooper, 2 others hospitalized following crash in Davie
DAVIE – A state trooper was one of three people hospitalized with minor injuries following a three-car accident in Davie on Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The trooper was trying to stop a Honda traveling westbound on State Road 818 and Parkland Road when the vehicle collided with a Ford, according to troopers. The trooper’s vehicle then collided with the Ford following a right turn and then into the Honda also, troopers said. The trooper and two other drivers were taken to Memorial Hospital Pembroke, troopers said.
Europe's switch to electric cars accelerates
The Japanese carmaker announced Wednesday that it will sell only electric and hybrid vehicles in Europe starting in 2022, three years earlier than previously planned. German carmaking king Volkswagen is spending 30 billion ($34 billion) over the next five years to make an electric or hybrid version of every vehicle in its lineup, and it plans to launch 70 new electric models by 2028. South Korea's largest car company, Hyundai, said last week that it planned to invest 41 trillion won ($35 billion) into electric cars and autonomous driving by 2025. Hyundai plans to release 23 kinds of electric vehicles by then, making up roughly half of its new lineup. By 2040, electric cars could make up 57% of all passenger car sales worldwide, according to an analysis by Bloomberg New Energy Finance.
Honda recalls 1.6 million vehicles over Takata airbags
TOKYO - Honda is recalling 1.6 million vehicles in the last phase of its efforts to replace potentially deadly Takata airbags, the company announced Friday. Honda is ahead of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's schedule for replacing the Takata airbag inflators, the carmaker said in a statement. Honda in March confirmed 14 deaths and more than 200 injuries in the US related to Takata airbag driver's front inflator ruptures. A chemical drying agent used in the inflators could cause airbags to rupture, Takata said. Upon bursting, some Takata airbags caused shrapnel to explode forward into passengers and drivers, injuring or killing some.
