Miami Book Fair International features tremendous lineup
It’s time for the annual Miami Book Fair International. The 2022 edition begins Nov. 13 and runs until Nov. 20, with the fun street fair scheduled for Nov. 18-20. Authors include former Hurricanes football coach Jimmy Johnson, former Miami Dolphin Larry Csonka, musician Patti Smith, playwright/actor Harvey Fierstein, and a wonderful list of children’s book authors. Winston wrote the book after reading a newspaper article about a girl who faced a choice of being kicked out of school or changing her hairstyle. When the book came out, Winston went to a bookseller event in New Orleans and found the book welcomed by the booksellers.

Former Dolphins, Ohio State assistant coach George Hill dies at 87
MIAMI – George Hill, an assistant coach for Woody Hayes, Don Shula and Jimmy Johnson, has died at age 87. The Miami Dolphins confirmed Hill’s death this week. Hill, an Ohio native, was the Ohio State defensive coordinator under Hayes for eight years in the 1970s. Jimmy Johnson, two-time Super Bowl-winner, surprised on air with news of Hall of Fame induction
Former Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins coach and two-time Super Bowl-winner Jimmy Johnson on Sunday became the newest member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Johnson was surprised with the announcement during a live broadcast, similar to the way the news was broken to former Steelers coach Bill Cowher on Saturday. Legendary @dallascowboys coach @JimmyJohnson finds out live on TV he is the newest member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame! Aikman and Johnson won back-to-back Super Bowls together in the 1992 and 1993 NFL seasons. Johnson joins Cowher as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's 2020 Centennial Slate, a special group of 15 inductees to honor the NFL's 100th season.

She left Miami as a nine-time All-American, eleven-time Big East Champion and held records in seven different events. CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Former University of Miami athletic director Sam Jankovich, the man credited with the rise of the Hurricanes football dynasty, has died at the age of 84. Current Miami athletic director Blake James announced the passing of Jankovich on Twitter Wednesday. "Our hearts are broken with the passing of legendary former UM AD Sam Jankovich." Jankovich became the school's athletic director in 1983 and ushered in a successful era in multiple sports, but highlighted with the dominance of the football program. Miami athletic teams won six national titles in the Jankovich era.
