PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - A Florida teenager is being called a hero after he was killed while protecting his 5-year-old sister during a home invasion robbery. Khyler Edman, 15, and his sister were inside their Port Charlotte house Thursday when a man identified as Ryan Cole broke into the home. Police were called to the area after residents reported seeing an injured man walking the streets near the home, WFTS reports. After Cole was captured, Charlotte County deputies found the door to Khyler's house forced open and the teenager dead inside, while his sister was unharmed. Cole, who was found with stab wounds on his hands and side, allegedly stabbed Edman to death when the teen tried to prevent him from harming his sister.
Lightning strike causes toilet to explode in Florida home
A Florida woman's toilet literally exploded after her septic tank was struck by lightning over the weekend. Ward told WINK the toilet shattered into hundreds of pieces and that the lightning strike was the loudest sound she's ever heard. It used to be our toilet, Ward said. We have nothing now.According to the Ward's plumber, the lightning struck the methane gases that had built up in the pipes from all the fecal matter. Im just glad none of us were on the toilet, Ward said.

The trapper told Kibbe he was going to take it to a farm to be released for mating. While gators are common in Florida, Kibbe thinks this one crept into her yard from the empty wooded lot behind her house. She said even though gator sightings may occur more often in Florida, neither she or her neighbors have ever had one in their neighborhood.
