Blinn died Thursday of natural causes at an assisted living community in Burbank, California, his daughter, Anneliese Johnson, said Saturday. He won Emmy and Peabody honors for the 1971 TV movie “Brian's Song," which dramatized the friendship of Chicago Bears players Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers. Last month, Hall of Fame running back Sayers died at age 77. Blinn and Albert Magnoli wrote 1984′s “Purple Rain,” which Magnoli directed.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. A custom guitar played by Prince at the height of his stardom in the 1980s and 1990s has sold for a staggering $563,500 at auction. Prince played the blindingly blue guitar with the artist's love symbol on its neck beginning on the 1984 Purple Rain Tour, on the classic albums Lovesexy and Sign O' The Times. He used it into the early 1990s. A similar Prince guitar sold for $700,000 in 2016. An ivory gown worn by Madonna in her 1990 Vogue video sold for $179,200. Items still to be sold Saturday included Paul McCartney's handwritten lyrics to the Beatles song Maxwell's Silver Hammer.

Prince Charles has tested positive for coronavirus, a palace spokesperson confirmed Wednesday. The prince's Clarence House office released a statement saying Charles is showing "mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual. " His wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall has tested negative for the virus, the spokesman said. "It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks," the statement said. "The Queen last saw the Prince of Wales briefly after the investiture on the morning of March 12, and is following all the appropriate advice with regards to her welfare."

Prince's heirs filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a slew of defendants in April 2018, alleging that they had the duty and opportunity to diagnose and treat Prince's addiction and prevent his death, but failed to do so. Claims against Dr. Michael Schulenberg a doctor who treated Prince in the weeks before his death were permanently dismissed in November, along with claims against Schulenberg's former employer. Prince's family says Kornfeld had a duty to advise Prince's associates that he should be immediately admitted for treatment. The bodyguard, Kirk Johnson, was deposed during the wrongful death litigation, but refused to answer nearly all of the questions, according to a transcript. Court filings several months after Prince's death suggested the estate was worth around $200 million before taxes.

Extremely rare purple lobster caught by lobsterman
WINTER HARBOR, Maine - A recent haul by a lobsterman brought in a rare crustacean that only a Prince fan could love. Keith Potter got a shock last week when he netted an extremely rare purple lobster off the coast of Winter Harbor (Maine), WMTW reports. Through the years, marine biologists have seen blue, yellow and red lobsters; but the purple variety is unique. "Blue lobsters show up frequently, sometimes red, sometimes yellow and even white. Steneck guessed the purple lobster was a one-in-a-million catch.
Prince estate releases unheard track
(CNN) - The Prince estate decided to bless fans with unreleased music in honor of the 40th anniversary of the singer's self-titled second album. The recording was created in the winter of 1978-79 around the time Prince was preparing to make his solo debut at the Capri Theater in North Minneapolis, according to the singer's website. The fully produced studio recording for "I Feel For You" was on the album "Prince," which was released October 19, 1979, the singer's website said. Chaka Khan's version won two Grammys, including Best R&B song that honored Prince as a songwriter. The release of the new acoustic version of the record comes three years after Prince's death in April 2016 from an accidental overdose of the opioid fentanyl.

Second man arrested in connection to Mac Miller's overdose death
An Arizona man has become the second person arrested on drug charges in the investigation of the overdose death of rapper Mac Miller, authorities said. Police gave no details on the connection, but said the arrest was the result of the investigation into the overdose death of Miller, who died one year ago in his Los Angeles home. Prince died in 2016 when he took counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl that looked like a generic version of the painkiller Vicodin. Matthew Roberts, guitarist for the band 3 Doors Down, also died of an overdose in 2016 and had fentanyl and hydrocodone in his system.
