Car crashes into building in Hollywood, driver removes license plate and flees, authorities say
A car smashed into a flooring store on Sheridan Street early Saturday morning. HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A good Samaritan was able to help police capture a driver who fled after the suspect smashed a car into a building. Hollywood Police said that just before 5 a.m. Saturday, they received a call about a traffic crash at 2201 Sheridan Street. The car then traveled an additional 300 feet before it smashed into the flooring company building, making its way inside. Once the car was stopped inside the building, a witness said the driver removed the license plate and took off on foot.
Crash leaves pickup, big rig covered in human waste in Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – The driver of a pickup truck walked away from the scene of a crash Wednesday morning in Hollywood that left the pickup and a big rig covered in human waste. The crash occurred shortly before 5:40 a.m. off Sheridan Street near 20th Avenue. The driver of the big rig told Local 10 News reporter Trent Kelly that he was hauling fertilizer while traveling west along Sheridan Street when he saw a red pickup truck speeding in the other direction. Fernandez said his big rig was not actually struck, but he had to come to a quick stop to avoid being hit, which caused the human waste to spill out, covering his truck and the pickup truck. Westbound lanes on Sheridan Street were shut down after the crash.
Police chase, bailout ends with suspects detained in Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Police followed a stolen car, which turned into a chase that ended in Broward County and created an active scene on Sheridan Street in Hollywood around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. Sky 10 was over the scene as the driver exited off of Interstate 95, then stopped the car. Someone bailed out of a black Mercedes-Benz sedan and took off running in a residential area. According to reports on the ground, a K-9 unit sniffed out the suspect hiding in a shed. Local 10 is gathering information as to what led to this chase and arrests.
2 in custody after Uber car shot at in Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. Two men were arrested early Wednesday after an Uber vehicle was shot at in Hollywood, authorities confirmed. According to a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, the Uber driver picked up a man and a woman from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino shortly before the car was shot up in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Sheridan Street. Local 10 News had a crew at the scene as a black Honda could be seen with bullet holes in it. Hollywood police confirmed that the suspects were in a Mercedes-Benz, which they parked in front of a home off Polk Street and North 13th Avenue before running off. A motive for the shooting remains unclear.
4-vehicle crash closes northbound lanes of I-95 at Sheridan Street

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, there were only minor injuries. As of 10:30 a.m., one lane remained closed. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Local 10 News traffic reporter Samantha Bryant advised drivers to take Florida’s Turnpike or U.S. Highway 441 as an alternate route.
Police make 3 arrests after stopping stolen tractor-trailer
PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. - Officers arrested three people accused of stealing a tractor-trailer full of cargo. Miami-Dade police followed the suspects into Broward County. Officers pulled over the stolen vehicle Tuesday in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 27, just south of Sheridan Street. According to detectives, police in unmarked units began tracking the rig in Miami-Dade County, but as they moved into Broward County, officers initiated the stop. Investigators said the van was trailing the tractor-trailer at the time of the traffic stop.
Despite evacuation, no safety concerns at Pembroke Pines Charter High School

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. - A Pembroke Pines charter school was evacuated Thursday because of what police said were "threats being made against the school." Police said Pembroke Pines Charter High School on Sheridan Street was evacuated as a precaution. A view from Sky 10 showed students congregating outside near the school's football field. They said there are no safety concerns to students or faculty.
Crash shuts down Sheridan Street
PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A two-car crash shut down Sheridan Street at Flamingo Road on Wednesday morning. The eastbound and westbound lanes were being blocked off. Drivers were asked to use Taft Street or Stirling Road as alternates. Police said everyone involved in the crash was taken to ahospital.
