Road closures, delays expected in downtown Fort Lauderdale for Lexus Corporate Run

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Traffic disruptions are expected across downtown Fort Lauderdale as thousands of runners and walkers gather Thursday for one of the city’s largest annual events.

The 2026 Lexus Corporate Run returns Thursday evening for its 28th year, bringing more than 4,500 participants from 198 companies to Esplanade Park.

Often dubbed “Fort Lauderdale’s Largest Office Party,” the three-circuit 5K (3.1-mile) run/walk is scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m.

With the influx of participants and spectators, officials are warning drivers to prepare for significant road closures, which began Wednesday and will continue through Friday afternoon.

Below is a list of road closures:

· Wednesday, April 1, from 9 a.m. through Friday, April 3 at 4 p.m.

SW 2nd St. closed from SW 5th Ave. to SW 4th Ave.

· Wednesday, April 1, from 11 p.m. through Thursday, April 2, at 11 p.m.

SW 2nd St. from Avenue of the Arts to SW 5th Ave. closed. SW 5th Ave. closed from Broward Blvd. to SW 2nd St. (Only access from Broward Blvd. to the Arts and Science District Garage permitted).

· Thursday, April 2, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

SW 4th Ave. closed from Broward Blvd. to SW 2nd St. (Only deliveries to Museum of Discovery loading docks permitted).

· Thursday, April 2, from 12 noon to 11 p.m.

SW 2nd St. closed from SW 4th Ave. to S. Andrews (only local traffic).

· Thursday, April 2, from 6:15 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Street detours/lane closures along race route:

4 p.m. - 11:59 p.m. - SW 2nd St. from 5th Ave. to 7th Ave. closed.

6 p.m. - 8:15 p.m. – 7th Ave. from 2nd St. to Davie Blvd. closed.

6:50 p.m. - 7:50 p.m. – Davie Blvd. to SW 8th Ave. south to SW 14th St. east closed. (Police will allow local traffic in this area in-between runners to allow residents in).

6:50 p.m. - 8 p.m. - SW 14th St. north on SW 6th Ave. to SW 14th Ct. east past SW 4th Ave. loop around into SW 14th St. closed. (Police will allow local traffic in this area in-between runners to allow residents in).

6:50 p.m. - 8 p.m. - SW 14th St. west to SW 4th Ave. north back to 2nd St. closed.

City officials urge drivers to allow extra travel time, and follow posted detour signs. Residents and businesses along the route should expect delays and limited access during peak race hours.

The event, while causing temporary disruptions, remains a major annual tradition in Fort Lauderdale, drawing thousands for an evening of fitness, networking, and community celebration.
