Flood watch remains in effect Saturday in South Florida

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – A flood watch was in effect through Saturday evening after excessive rainfall affected low-lying and flood-prone areas of South Florida.

Drivers should expect one to two inches of more rain on Saturday. After a stormy Friday night, some neighborhoods already had up to five to six inches of rain.

The final round of thunderstorms was moving through Miami-Dade until about 1 p.m. Some could be severe with damaging wind gusts and the risk of an isolated tornado.

The heaviest rain is set to move offshore at about 4 p.m. Then there will be a quick-moving shower or two, but most areas will be dry by Saturday night.

Florida Power & Light Company reported about 1,185 customers had power outages on Saturday morning. The FPL Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Station got over 10 inches of rain.
