March 28: Warm start, storms ahead

It’s a beautiful start to the weekend, with plenty of sunshine and dry weather. Temperatures are on the warm side, with highs in the mid-80s. Most afternoon thunderstorms on Saturday will develop too far to the west, over the Everglades. This will change later, with showers and thunderstorms expected after sunset.

Sunday could be a very wet day, depending on where you are. A narrow band of heavy downpours will set up across South Florida, though it’s unclear whether it will be closer to Fort Lauderdale, Miami, or somewhere in between. Areas under this persistent rain band could see 2+ inches of rainfall, leading to minor flooding. Locations just outside the band may only see rain in the distance, with otherwise drier conditions.

Some of these showers will linger into Monday, followed by fewer rain chances for the rest of the week.
