April 27: Expect fewer downpours today in South Florida

After widespread showers and thunderstorms gave South Florida much-needed rain on Sunday, we are getting a chance to dry out with fewer downpours on Monday.

Most storms will develop too far inland, but a couple will make it into the metro area with brief heavy rain and gusty winds. High temperatures in the next couple of days will be near average in the middle 80s.

The hottest air of the year so far is on the way later this week. Starting Thursday, a shift in our winds from the south will give us a streak of 90s that will last into the weekend.
