2 hospitalized after tornado touches down in Delray Beach

National Weather Service confirmed tornado went through Kings Point over 55 community

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – 2 people were hurt after a confirmed tornado touched down in an over 55 community in Delray Beach on Tuesday as the effects of the outer bands of Hurricane Ian came through the area.

Kings Point Delray, west of Delray Beach on West Atlantic Avenue, houses residents 55 years of age and older. The National Weather Service confirmed Wednesday that it was a tornado that swept through the community around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

About 30 people were evacuated from the neighborhood after a building in Kings Point was deemed unsafe from the tornado damage. 2 people were transported to the hospital. Their conditions are not known.
