Coronavirus: Florida confirms 2,660 new cases Friday, 110 resident deaths

Florida reported 2,660 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, along with 110 more residents’ deaths.

The state is now up to 711,804 confirmed cases, 14,554 resident deaths and 176 non-resident deaths from COVID-19 that occurred here, according to the health department’s dashboard. At least 44,489 hospitalizations have been attributed to the novel coronavirus since the start of the outbreak.

Newly confirmed deaths over the past 24 hours include 30 in Miami-Dade County, nine in Broward County and six in Palm Beach County.

The statewide positivity rate from yesterday’s testing was 3.77%, according to the health department. The 14-day average is 4.56% and the 7-day is 4.38%.

Florida’s health department has also just started releasing data on COVID-19 infections at Florida schools.

The United States has passed 7.2 million confirmed cases, with over 207,000 deaths from COVID-19, the highest numbers in the world. Over 2.8 million Americans have been deemed recovered, according to data compiled from various sources by Johns Hopkins University.

Worldwide, the number of COVID-19 cases reported has surpassed 34.3 million. There have been more than 1 million deaths worldwide attributed to the pandemic, with over 23.8 million being declared recovered.
