Miami man arrested in sex trafficking case involving missing teen girl

MIAMI – Miami-Dade police announced the arrest of a man in a human trafficking case involving a teenage girl.

According to police, 27-year-old Christian Manuel Carvajal of Miami was arrested on Saturday at approximately 11:57 a.m.

Authorities said detectives from Miami-Dade police’s Human Trafficking Squad received information of an online ad for sex featuring an underage girl who had been reported missing since 2019.

Undercover detectives arranged a sting to meet up with the 17-year-old girl for $500 in exchange for sex.

Police said the suspect dropped the teen off at the designated pickup location and he was quickly arrested.

According to police, the girl told officers “that she was being sexually trafficked for profit by the adult male.”

Police said Carvajal admitted to suspecting the girl was a minor.

“The dedication to duty and hard work of the detectives of our Human Trafficking Squad cannot be overstated. This is just one example of the victims that our officers work tirelessly to bring home every day. For far too long, this juvenile victim has been in the hands of the worst kinds of individuals, those who prey against our vulnerable youth. During this Human Trafficking Prevention Month, and every month of the year, we remain committed to bring more victims home,” said MDPD Director Stephanie V. Daniels.
