BMW driver, passenger take off on foot after striking scooter in northwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police are working to apprehend two people who were involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash on Tuesday.

The hit-and-run was reported around 6 a.m. in the area of Northwest 22nd Avenue and 54th Street.

According to police, a BMW was heading north on Northwest 22nd Avenue when it struck the scooter.

The driver of the vehicle and his or her passenger then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction, authorities said.

The operator of the scooter was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details were immediately released.
