NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Just about everyone in Nashville has a Dolly story.
Inside the Assembly Food Hall in downtown Nashville, Dolly Parton’s big blonde wig greets everyone, along with her signature smile.
“She’s America’s fairy godmother and she’s just the kindest person and did so much for the world,” said Pamela Corris.
Since her passing, fans have posted messages here sharing their love for her music and some of her best quotes, including: “It costs a lot of money to look this cheap.”
Everywhere you go in Nashville, sign after sign shows just how much she meant to Music City.
“She was amazing and this speaks for itself,” said Haley Minoske.
Tributes continue to pour in for the “9 to 5” singer.
Flags throughout the country are being flown at half-staff in honor of Dolly until Sept. 1.
In her hometown of Sevierville, Tennessee, this memorial keeps growing.
As fans continue to mourn, we’re learning more about Dolly’s final days. Her sister, Stella, posted on social media:
“My sister was one of the most generous, thoughtful and kind people I’ve ever known. What the world saw is exactly who she was, so much so, she told me recently that if there was no hope for her, she would still allow her medical team to try experimental drugs in the hope of helping others in the future.”
A private funeral for close friends and family will take place before she is laid to rest next to her husband, Carl Dean, at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
