MIAMI – A 58-year-old violent felony offender of special concern was on probation when he was arrested on Friday and appeared in court on Saturday in Miami-Dade County.

Antonio Tunon — who was facing three charges in two new cases — appeared before Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Daryl E. Trawick.

The prosecution asked for $20,000 bon on each count since Tunon had recently completed a 15-year sentence and “posed a danger” to the community. The defense said there was no need for the “elevated bond” because he was set to be held without bond on the probation violation.

According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Tunon was arrested in 2008 and convicted of second-degree murder and burglary in 2009 in Miami-Dade. He was released from prison in 2020 and his probation was set to end on Dec. 20, 2030.

Police officers arrested Tunon on Friday and correctional officers booked him at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Saturday.

Tunon was facing two counts of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and criminal mischief. Trawick agreed with the prosecution and set his bond at $45,000.
