MIAMI — A woman slapped a senior working at a McDonald’s in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood after the employee accidentally touched her dress while cleaning the restaurant, according to police.
Miami police arrested Tamara Eddie, 43, of Lauderhill, on a charge of aggravated battery on a person 65 or older on Friday afternoon after they said her slap ― and the worker’s subsequent fall ― knocked the woman out.
According to an arrest report, police responded to the Golden Arches at 299 SW Eighth St. just before 12:30 p.m. “in reference to a disturbance about a food order and possible allergic reaction to the food that was ordered.”
Police said they arrived and Eddie told them “she was having an allergic reaction and medical emergency due to the food that was ordered, because the order was not correct.”
But the report states that Eddie “did not suffer from any type of allergic reaction.”
Instead, the McDonald’s worker told police “that she was sweeping the floor when she accidentally swept (Eddie’s) dress.”
“When (Eddie) felt the dress being tugged on, (she) stood up, approached the victim and, with her left open hand, smacked the victim in the face, causing (her) to fall to the ground, hitting her head on the wall,” causing the senior, whose age wasn’t listed in the report, to be knocked unconscious temporarily, the report states.
Court records show a judge found probable cause to charge Eddie, who was later released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond.
