MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A northwest Miami-Dade neighborhood is on edge after a woman was the victim of a bizarre attack from a stranger in her own home.

It happened just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday near Little River Drive and Northwest 12th Court, in the county’s unincorporated Pinewood area.

“We were having dinner sitting at the counter, watching TV, talking,” the victim, who did not want to be identified, said.

Video shows a woman walking up to the front door of a family home.

“I assumed it was a friend of my son’s,” the victim said. “And when I opened the door, it was excruciating, burning. I could not believe what happened.”

The woman said the intruder pepper-sprayed her in the face.

Asked if she knew the attacker, the victim responded, “No. I’m a school teacher, love my students, you know, I don’t have any problem with my parents.”

Video shows the attacker calmly walking back to a small black or dark-colored four-door SUV, where she had a driver waiting. The pair drove off.

“It was horrible. I’m 58 years old. This is the first time I have ever been attacked,” the victim said.

The school teacher told Local 10 News she was so disturbed that she left town for the weekend.

Neighbors say the same thing happened at another home in the area.

“They did the same thing, knocked on the door and the police (were) dispatched,” the victim said.

Everyone we spoke to in the neighborhood said they are now worried.

“Today’s society, you don’t know what can happen. So you just got to watch your surroundings and just gotta be safe out here,” a neighbor told Local 10 News.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
