Humane Society of Broward seeks ‘furever’ home for senior dog Tootsie, other furry friends

Humane Society of Broward seeks forever home for mature dog Tootsie The Humane Society of Broward County is seeking a forever home for a mature dog named Tootsie.

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — A senior dog named Tootsie is available for adoption at the Humane Society of Broward County after being surrendered by her previous owner.

Tootsie, estimated to be about 10 years old, was found by a shelter staff member in a local neighborhood.

The dog had a microchip, but multiple attempts to reach her owner were unsuccessful, and the shelter said the owner ultimately blocked further contact.

Cherie Wachter of the Humane Society described Tootsie as a sweet, experienced dog with silver whiskers who is alert, can see and hear well, and is fully potty trained.

Wachter said Tootsie enjoys leisurely walks and loves snuggling in comfortable beds.

“She’s really good on camera by the way. She’s working it, she knows. She is just so sweet,” Wachter said. “We have a couple other older dogs, but she is by far the oldest dog at the shelter currently. She’s one great dog that’s getting overlooked just simply because of her age. A perfect fit for one of our viewers out there right now.”

Wachter added that Tootsie recently had a dental procedure, but is otherwise healthy and enjoys treats.

The shelter also has several kittens and adult cats available for adoption.

Interested adopters can visit the Humane Society’s website to fill out a pre-adoption application or visit the adoption kennels, which open at 11 a.m.

Tootsie is looking for a loving home where she can enjoy her golden years with a family who will give her the attention and care she deserves.
