DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — A 62-year-old man has died after being struck by a sprinter van Monday morning on Interstate 95 in Deerfield Beach, the Florida Highway Patrol confirmed.
According to troopers, the crash occurred around 2:35 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway just before Hillsboro Boulevard.
Troopers said the white Mercedes-Benz sprinter van was traveling within the outside travel lane as a gray Toyota Corolla was stopped, facing east on I-95 within the outside travel lane.
The victim, identified only as a 62-year-old Hispanic man, was standing outside his car when he was struck by the van, troopers confirmed.
Troopers said the driver of the van first crashed into the Corolla before striking the victim.
According to troopers, the victim’s car was parked on the outside lane as the victim was waiting for law enforcement to arrive following a separate crash.
It’s unclear whether the driver of the sprinter van will be cited or charged.
