Suspect accused of dragging Sunny Isles Beach sergeant during traffic stop

SUNNY ISLES BEACH, Fla. — Authorities in Miami-Dade County announced the arrest of a man who allegedly fled from a traffic stop and dragged a police sergeant while doing so.

According to Sunny Isles Beach police, the attempted traffic stop occurred on Collins Avenue near 174th Street on Thursday.

Police said the driver, who they have not publicly identified, was located and arrested in Plantation on several charges, including aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and providing a false name.

The sergeant who was dragged was not seriously injured, police said.

Authorities said the suspect was also wanted on two outstanding warrants from New York, including one related to a shooting.
