BOCA RATON, Fla. — The Broward County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was found with a gunshot wound Wednesday evening on I-95 northbound near the Palmetto Park Road and Hillsboro Boulevard exits.

Florida Highway Patrol requested help around 5:30 p.m. from Boca Raton police and sheriff’s deputies. The man was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, officials said.

Another person was detained, but authorities have not released details about their involvement. The shooting caused major traffic delays as investigators closed lanes on the highway.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
