New documentary brings fans closer than ever to Selena

Upcoming documentary on Selena will provide new looks into star's life

Over 30 years ago, the voice of Selena Quintanilla was silenced after she was gunned down by fan club manager Yolanda Saldivar.

For years, Selena’s story and legacy have been told and seen through different lenses, none of which have had the nuance and depth the slain Tejano singer deserved, until now.

In “Selena y Los Dinos: A Family’s Legacy”, fans of who they affectionately call the Queen of Tejano get to experience her from a more visceral and thoughtful vantage point -- stories of who she was, shared by the people who knew her best, her family.

Director Isabel Castro was tasked with telling Selena’s story.

In the documentary, we experience never before seen archival footage of Selena, from her humble beginnings in Texas to her meteoric rise in Tejano and a major pop music crossover.

“Selena y Los Dinos: A Family’s Legacy” will be available to watch on Netflix on Nov. 17.
